PROFILE

I have over 40 years' experience in the field of Scientific, Press and PR Photography and Video Production.

SCIENTIFIC

I ran the Photographic and Film Unit at the University of Liverpool Department of Zoology, where I developed time-lapse cinematography for recording animal behaviour. While running the Photographic Department in the University's Cytogenetics Unit, I created the technique for photographing gel electrophoresis samples in the field of human chromosome research.

PRESS PHOTOGRAPHY

I have over 40 years experience in the field of Press Photography. As Picture Editor on a large regional daily newspaper group, I was responsible for the introduction of Auto-focus Canon EOS film cameras to the Group's 13 Staff Photographers.

I pioneered the move into Colour Photography and was promoted to Colour Manager to oversee the introduction of the new Colour Press.

As a Level 4 NVQ Assessor, I was responsible for working with the Group's Internal Verifier and Training Editor to carry out Assessments in Press Photography at Level 4, to ensure the highest standards were attained by Staff Photographers.

In 2007, I worked with the Newspaper Society to upgrade the Performance Criteria to include all aspects of Digital Photography for the NVQ Assessments.

PHOTO-JOURNALISM

As a Photo-Journalist, my articles illustrated with my Photography have been published extensively in glossy lifestyle publications. And I am happy to undertake commissions on any subject, anywhere in the UK and Europe.

DIGITAL VIDEO

As Digital Media Editor, I introduced the use of Digital Video for the newspaper group's 3-edition daily newspaper, together with its weekly titles.

I instructed the print journalists in interviewing techniques for the video. I filmed, produced, edited and uploaded the finished news videos to the newspapers' websites.

PR PHOTOGRAPHY

Blue Chip clients, including Jolly Good Van Hire, GLS and Wrexham Council, have commisioned me to produce PR Photography which has been used in national advertising campaigns.
